History

Granite City Community Band was formed a few years ago as a non-contesting band to support the existing Granite City band and give non-contesting players in the Aberdeen area the opportunity to play in a relaxed atmosphere.

Under the direction of former conductor and current main band principal euphonium Lewis Catto, the band has grown from a small ensemble of just eight people to a full sized brass band. The 2016 Band Supplies Scottish Challenge will be the band’s first outing under new conductor, Alex Dawson.
