THE hard work is paying off for members of Kilmarnock Concert Brass after it performed to a sell-out crowd for a charity concert.

Under the baton of Scott Walker, the band impressed the 200-strong audience in the town's Park Hotel, with all proceeds going to Alzheimer Scotland. The concert, on February 5, saw the band joined by the Aeolian Male Voice Choir.

A spokesman for Kilmarnock Concert Brass said: "The band is now close to full strength and was making a great sound, playing an eclectic mix of classic marches, choral arrangements and popular tunes, finishing with a rousing version of New York, New York that had the room in full voice.

"With ex-players returning and new young blood too, it was a great return to form which all bodes well for the weeks and months ahead."

The band plans to perform in two further concerts in 2016. More information is available by logging on to the Kilmarnock Concert Brass website or by liking the band on Facebook.
