BANDSMEN and women from across Scotland have raised more than £1,000 after gathering for a concert in aid of a woman left seriously injured following an accident in Turkey.

Held on February 13 the event in the New Life Church, Prestwick, helped raise money for Irvine and Dreghorn member, Eilidh Houston, who was involved in the accident before Christmas.

Brass players from Irvine and Dreghorn, Dunaskin Doon, Johnstone Band, Kilmarnock Concert, Newmilns and Galston, Renfrew Burgh, Dumfries Town, along with celebrated Scottish cornet player Iain Culross, came together to make music and raise funds under the baton of Gary Williams.

Dawn Spence, who co-ordinated the concert, said: "Thank you so much to everyone who came to support this concert in aid of our friend, Eilidh.

"People gave up their time to put on a fun concert which was well attended and I'm so grateful to everyone for their donations. It shows the true spirit of Scottish brass banding at its very best."
