Members of Irvine and Dreghorn Band took part in a fundraising golfathon.

FIGHTING fit members of Irvine and Dreghorn Band have been getting into the swing of things – by playing 40 rounds of golf in three days.

Four players from the band took on the sponsored golfathon, which saw them playing ten rounds each from June 21 - 23 to mark the band’s 40th anniversary.

Colin Stevely, Derek Leitch, Jordan Dickson and Callum Dukes began their challenge by visiting Ballochmyle, Annanhill and Loudoun golf clubs.

The following day they took on Brunston Castle, Prestwick St Cuthbert's and the original Open venue, Prestwick Golf Club. On Thursday, June 23, the fundraisers tackled Largs, Glasgow Gailes and Irvine Golf Club (Bogside).

The quartet played 40 rounds of golf in three days.

A spokesman for the golfers said: “We'd like to thank all of the golf courses, their staff and committees who helped us with the use of their courses and facilities to help us complete our challenge.”
