New MD at Dunaskin Doon

Chris Bradley has been appointed as Musical Director of Dunaskin Doon Band.

THE Dunaskin Doon Band has appointed Chris Bradley as its new Musical Director.

Chris is an experienced performer, conductor and educator, and is principal cornet player with Whitburn Band.

A spokeswoman for Dunaskin Doon said: "We would like to warmly welcome Chris to the Dunaskin family. We look forward to a more settled period in the coming months as we build towards our performance at the National Brass Band Championships and work hard preparing for the leap up to the first section next year.

"We hope we have much success together as we begin this latest chapter in Dunaskin Doon's proud 148-year history."

Chris' appointment to the role with the Ayrshire band comes after the unexpected resignation of Gary Williams at the end of April - a decision which left band members devastated.

The spokeswoman continued: "The band would like to publicly thank Gary for all he gave us during his tenure . We will always be grateful for his knowledge and hard work as well as his never-ending passion and enthusiasm for all things brass. We wish him well in his future banding career, wherever that may lie.

"Thank you also to the talented musicians who expressed an interest in Dunaskin Doon Band and auditioned for the position of MD."
