RIVERSIDE Youth Band, based in Inverclyde, has announced the appointment of Mark Good as its new Musical Director.

A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Glasgow Caledonian University, Mark enjoys a varied career in music and journalism. He works as a multimedia journalist with Romanes Media Group and is involved with conducting and music education work across the country.

Since 2012, he has been Musical Director of Renfrew Burgh Band and last month led the band to victory in the third section contest at the Scottish Championships following a triumph at the Scottish Challenge Cup in November last year.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark said: "I am absolutely delighted to be working with Riverside Youth Band. They are a very talented group bursting with potential, and I'm looking forward to building upon the super work of Lynda Nicholson.

"The area is home to a wealth of talented young brass players and it's crucial that we work in conjunction with local instrumental instructors to maximise the musical opportunities available to the young people in Inverclyde and the surrounding areas in order to help them flourish."

Riverside Youth Band is excited to have Mark on board after a successful first concert in Lyle Kirk in Greenock recently and looks forward to working with him to continue building on what has been a successful first few years.

More information about the band and its upcoming events can be found on Facebook, Twitter or the Riverside Youth Band website
