Mixed Bag For Scottish Bands in Blackpool

There was delight for some but disappointment for others at the spring festival contests held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. In the Senior Cup competition Unison Kinneil, playing the set test piece Montage by Peter Graham, finished in 6th place, narrowly missing out on promotion. Behind them were Dalmellington in 13th place and Bo'ness & Carriden in 16th place. The much fancied Scottish Champions Newtongrange Silver produced the shock result of the weekend by finishing in a lowly 18th spot.

There was only one Scottish band in the Senior Trophy competition where the set test piece was Gregsons Connotations. That band was Kingdom Brass, looking to gain promotion straight back to the Senior Cup after last years disappointing relegation. Unfortunately this was not to be but they tried extremely hard and just missed out on one of the four promotion places by finishing in 5th place.

We congratulate all of our representatives in Blackpool for their efforts and hope to see increased participation and wish them every success in future contests.
