Euro Disappointment for Scotland

The Whitburn Band, Scotlands representatives at the European Championships in Gronigen, had, by their standards, a disappointing result at the contest held at the Martinplaza in Gronigen, Holland. In the set test piece contest the band finished in ninth place playing the set work "Extreme Make-Over" by Johan de Meij. The band fared somewhat better in the own choice contest finishing in sixth place with their choice of testpiece being the Derek Bourgeois work "Concerto Grosso". The contest was won by the Black Dyke band from England, a fitting accolade for this famous band celebrating their 150th anniversary in 2005.
