THE Bathgate Band has performed in concert with its newly acquired band uniforms.

Audience members were treated to a free Sounds of Brass concert from the West Lothian band at the Gibson Craig Halls in Currie on Thursday, October 20.

Highlights of the performance, in front of a packed audience, included a beautiful rendition of Annie Laurie by solo euphonium Willie McCafferty and a crowd-pleasing xylophone duet, The Two Imps, featuring Jamie Buchan and Fraser Sharp.

Musical Director Anne Crookston also had the entire audience singing along to one of the band’s favourites, You’ve Been Warned, which preceded the ever-popular finale ABBA Does Brass.

Event organiser Sandra Cranford, who presented the band with a generous donation raised on the night, commented: “I’ve been receiving e-mails, text messages and phone calls saying how wonderful the concert was.

"I hope the band enjoyed it as much as the audience did.”

The Bathgate Band is now preparing for the new contest season with appearances at the Borders Entertainment Contest on November 5 and the Band Supplies Scottish Challenge in Kilmarnock on November 19.
