the cooperation band will be previewing its Brass in Concert programme at an open rehearsal on Thursday 12 November ahead of the defence of its championship title at the Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead two days later.
The band’s performance will take you into the world of George Gershwin with a set entitled In Blue.
The scene is New York in 1924. The city is alive with music, a composer is facing an extraordinary deadline, and an experiment that would change the musical landscape forever.
Inspired by the extraordinary story of Rhapsody in Blue, the band explores the meeting of jazz and classical music, the energy of 1920s New York, and the creativity and courage to challenge musical boundaries.
Featuring new compositions and arrangements from Andrew Duncan, Fredrick Schjelderup, Lucy Pankhurst and Joseph Turrin, In Blue promises a journey filled with character, colour and musical storytelling.
The open rehearsal will be from 8pm at the Sherbrooke Mosspark Parish Church at 240 Nithsdale Road, Bellahouston, Glasgow G41 5AD. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
