Coop retains Fife Festival entertainment contest title

Congratulations to the cooperation band on successfully defending its title at yesterday’s Fife Brass Band Festival entertainment contest.

Sixteen bands entered the event in the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, but it was the current champions’ near-perfect performance that once again caught the ear of adjudicator Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale, achieving a score of 99 points.

Taking the runners-up spot was Whitburn on 97 points and in third place was the resurgent Kirkintilloch Band on 96 points.

Entertainment judges Madelaine Baker and Jill Gillespie selected Tullis Russell Mills (cover photo) as putting on the day’s most entertaining programme.

Soloist of the contest was Stephanie Kennedy, flugel horn with the cooperation band.

Best 1st Section band was Kirkintilloch, taking the 2nd Section honours was Clackmannan District, top 3rd Section band was Perthshire Brass and best 4th Section band was Buckhaven & Methil Miners.
