EIF launches Rising Stars of Brass mentorship opportunity

Wednesday 24 April 2024

The Edinburgh International Festival is looking for five emerging brass players to take part in an exciting, tailored mentorship opportunity in August.

This Rising Stars of Brass opportunity is open to talented trumpet, french horn, trombone, bass trombone or tuba players based in the UK and Internationally. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work alongside world leading brass musicians Aaron Akugbo and Chris Hart (cover photo).

This rigorous mentorship programme will foster a mutually supportive environment between the emerging artists and culminate in a special opportunity to perform in the home of the Edinburgh International Festival, The Hub, as part of the festival’s evening concert series.

There will also be an opportunity to perform in a community setting and contribute to the festival’s commitment to engaging with local Edinburgh communities.

The EIF will be offering a fee starting at £650 for this opportunity with contributions to travel costs and accommodation also provided to open the opportunity for equal participation.

Applicants must be available for rehearsals on 20–23 August and for performances on 22 and 23 August.

To be considered, candidates will need to submit a video audition in the format of a private link to the video on YouTube, Vimeo, etc; a current CV and details of current teacher (if applicable).

Applications for this mentorship opportunity are open until this Sunday (28 April). Further information and guidance for auditions can be found here.
