Registration reminder for AGM

Sunday 7 January 2024

This is a final reminder for bands wishing to attend the Scottish Brass Band Association annual general meeting at the end of this month to register their representatives with secretary Tom Allan by Saturday (13 January).

The AGM will start at 10am on Sunday 28 January at the Falkirk Football Stadium. There is a limit of four delegates per band.

A Learning Festival will follow the meeting after the conclusion of the official business of the AGM.

Five workshops will feature:

Stephanie Kennedy, flugel soloist with the cooperation band, talking about performance techniques

Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale of Brass Repair Lass offering handy hints and tips on brass instrument maintenance and repair

• Percussion tutor Sarah Naish of SN Percussion talking about all things percussion

• Musical director Stuart Black speaking about the art of conducting

• Of particular interest to Fourth Section bands, composer Alan Fernie talking through the 2024 regional qualifying test piece Music for Jock Tamson which he has written.

There is more detail on the Learning Festival workshops to come. There is no requirement to register if you just wish to attend this event.

Bands are also being asked to nominate members who have passed away during 2023 for a Page of Remembrance which will pay tribute at the AGM to those deceased players.
