Bands of the year and 2024 grading tables published

The five sectional bands of the year for 2023 have been announced by the Scottish Brass Band Association.

Topping the Championship section is Whitburn, followed by the cooperation band and Dalmellington.

In the First Section, The Kirkintilloch Band came out on top with Coalburn Silver and Bathgate in second and third places respectively.

Clackmannan District headed bands in the Second Section, with Newmilns & Galston in the runner-up spot. Irvine & Dreghorn took the third place.

In the Third Section, Selkirk Silver was the top band, followed by Shotts St Patrick’s and Brass Sounds Inverclyde.

The Fourth Section was headed by Highland Brass, with Buckhaven & Methil Miners and MacTaggart Scott Loanhead taking the second and third spots respectively.

Each band receives 1 point for taking part, 1 additional point for each Scottish band in their own section which they defeat and 1 bonus point for being the winning band in their section.
