15 bands ready to take part in Borders Entertainment Contest

A line-up of 15 bands is ready to take to the stage in Selkirk’s Victoria Halls on Saturday to compete in the Borders Entertainment Contest.

Bands taking part are Annan Town, Coalburn Intermediate, Ellington Colliery Brass, Galashiels Town, Hawick Saxhorn, Irvine & Dreghorn, Jedforest Instrumental, Kirkton Brass Bathgate, Langholm Town, MacTaggart Scott Loanhead, Peebles Burgh Silver, Penicuik Silver, Selkirk Silver, Shotts St Patricks and St. Ronan’s Silver.

The event, which is open to bands in Sections 2-4, will see competitors play a 15-minute programme of music which will include a composition by John Williams.

Adjudication will be open with the adjudicators David Thornton and Jim Chamberlain marking the bands independently.

The first band will be on stage at 11am.
