Peter Fraser’s incredible 70 years with Kirkie

Congratulations to Peter Fraser on chalking up an incredible milestone of 70 years membership with the Kirkintilloch Band.

Peter, who is the band’s president and also SBBA honorary vice-president, has served as a player, manager and administrator – and so much more – as well as having leading roles with SBBA and the European Brass Band Association.

He is the very definition of the word ‘stalwart’ with an incredible, unmatched loyalty and dedication to the band he loves.

Band manager John Needham said: “The Kirkintilloch Band owes its very existence to Peter. His selfless work over the years has sustained the band through good times and bad.

“He is a living legend and I’m sure I speak for everyone past and present when I say ‘Thank you, Peter!’.”

Kirkie were delighted to present Peter with a special plaque to commemorate his 70 years, along with an exclusive rare bottle of Peter’s favourite tipple with accompanying specially-engraved whisky glasses and a hamper packed with Christmas goodies.

It was Eb bass player Dean Logan who called by Peter’s home to make the socially distanced presentation.

Members are now looking forward to the time when they can all get together again to properly celebrate Peter’s wonderful achievement.
