The Blues Brothers inspired Borders charity video

Monday 7 September 2020

Members of the Scottish Borders Brass Band Association have brought a touch of The Blues Brothers to a charity fundraising performance of Everybody Needs Somebody to Love.

The music from the iconic blockbuster movie was chosen by the SBBBA committee and friends from workshop events as a way of showing heartfelt support to member bands during these difficult times.

“The video also provided the opportunity to support a local charity, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, a fantastic cause inspired by a Scottish rugby legend,” explained Christine Calvert, SBBBA contest secretary.

“A big thanks to Josh Calvert for pulling the whole thing together, editing the recording and setting up the Scottish Borders Brass Band YouTube channel which features videos from all the Borders association bands as well as our current Scottish Senior Youth Champions, the Scottish Borders Youth Brass Band.”

Christine added: “Thank you for your support and hopefully our member bands will be able to meet up again soon.”

Current SBBBA member bands are Galashiels Town Band, Hawick Saxhorn Band, Langholm Town Band, Jedforest Instrumental Band, Peebles Burgh Band, Selkirk Silver Band, St Ronans Silver Band and St Boswells Concert Band.
