WoS entertainment contest goes live this Sunday

The West of Scotland entertainment contest becomes a virtual reality when it goes live on the SBBA YouTube channel and FaceBook Live at 6pm on Sunday (30 August).

Tune in to hear the six bands who are keeping the spirit of the 2019 version of the event alive by registering to take part.

Also hear the debut performance of the West of Scotland virtual band playing All that Jazz and Singing in the Rain. One piece will be played at the beginning of the online contest and the other at the end.

“Although only 15 players signed up from across the west, it showed that they could play on their own and also stand together as one to prevent COVID-19 from spoiling all the fun,” said organiser Lesley Crumlish.

“This event is dedicated to those who have lost loved ones during this pandemic, no matter what the cause. It is never an easy time during a loss but just now it is extremely hard and stressful on everyone. 

“My hope is that this event will give a little light relief from reality for everyone. Thank you to all who have contributed.” 

Participating bands in the contest – each performing a film/TV theme and a march – are Coalburn Silver, Irvine & Dreghorn, Johnstone, Kingdom Brass, Newmilns & Galston and Unison Kinneil.

At the end of the event a poll will be put up on the West of Scotland Facebook page to allow folks to vote for their favourite performance. Alternatively people can send their vote by email to wosabba1@outlook.com
