Summer fun at Dalmellington

Young musicians enjoyed a fun filled day of learning during their summer holidays at the Dalmellington Brass Academy workshop earlier this month

Approximately 15 young brass and percussion students were put through their paces by Helen Minshall, with help from senior Dalmellington band members.

Karin McKenzie of Dalmellington explained: "The young players came to the workshop during their school holidays to learn new pieces, such as Amarillo and 500 miles.

"This was the first time that some of them had played as a band, and at the end  of the workshop they gave a little concert."

SBBA education officer John Boax thanked Helen for leading the workshop, and also thanked Creative Scotland for their support.
