Whitburn Band to host an Open Rehearsal with four other bands

Whitburn Band will host an Open Rehearsal with four other bands as we all prepare for this year’s Scottish Brass Band Championships.
The event will be held at the Brucefield Church in Whitburn on Friday, March 8 from 7pm and will be free.
The evening will feature Whitburn, Unison Kinneil, Selkirk Silver, Whitburn Heartlands and Newland Concert Brass.
All five test pieces at this year’s regional championships will be performed for the audience, with a band from each section represented. They will be:

FOURTH SECTION

Newland Concert Brass (Conductor – Simon Railton), playing Stantonbury Festival by Ray Steadman-Allen

THIRD SECTION

Whitburn Heartlands (Conductor – Iain Fleming), playing First Suite in Eb by Gustav Holst arr. Sydney Herbert

SECOND SECTION

Selkirk Silver (Conductor – Charlie Farren), playing Rise of the Phoenix by Darrol Barry

FIRST SECTION

Unison Kinneil (Conductor – Raymond Tennant), playing Symphony of Marches by Gilbert Vinter

CHAMPIONSHIP SECTION

Whitburn (Conductor – Professor Nicholas Childs), playing Seascapes by Ray Steadman-Allen
