Calling all former NYBBS membersTuesday 17 April 2018
The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) is calling on all past members of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) to assist in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the national youth ensemble by taking part in a special concert at the end of the 2018 NYBBS Summer Course.
In addition, organisers of the event are calling on former NYBBS members, whether they take part in the concert or not, to help put together a commemorative booklet which will include photos, newspaper clippings and recollections of experiences.
SBBA has released details of two pacakages on offer to former members. The first, at a cost of £50.00 per person, includes tickets to see the NYYBS Childrens and Reserve Bands concert in Perth on Saturday, 28 July. This will be followed by a rehearsal and social night at the Strathallan School, with dinner, bed and breakfast included. The following day, after another rehearsal, the band will travel to Stirling to join the 2018 NYBBS Senior Band in concert at Stirling's Albert Hall.
Those wishing to take part in the event, but not stay overnight at Strathallan, can enjoy the Saturday concert, evening rehearsal and dinner for just £10.00.
The 'NYBBS at 60' band is open to all players or administrators who have had an involvement with NYBBS over the years, with players of all abilities welcome to take part.
The Sunday afternoon concert in Stirling will feature a new march, specially commissioned for the event by SBBA as part of the annual young composers competition.
