Ray Munday appointed as new Shotts St. Patrick's MD

Thursday 25 January 2018

Shotts St. Patrick’s Brass Band has announced that Ray Munday has been appointed as Musical Director, with immediate effect.

Speaking of his new appointment, Ray Munday commented: “From the first meeting it was evident that the players at Shotts St. Patrick’s are keen to work hard and stretch themselves. The energy and effort in the first rehearsal showed quite a remarkable improvement throughout the evening. I was told afterwards “that was hard - push us harder!” - now that is a band I am really looking forward to working with!”

Delighted at the new appointment, Band President Lynsey Mcilwraith commented: “From Ray’s initial visit to the Shotts band hall, we were impressed with his approach to the band, to the forthcoming contest and to the test-piece we are preparing for Perth. An awesome combination of experience, knowledge and musicality as well as a real drive, ambition and energy is, in our opinion, just what we needed to push the band forward as we work to improve on our 3rd place finish at last year’s Championships and prepare for a successful 2018, which is also the band’s 140th  anniversary year.

Ray’s first engagement with Shotts will be at the forthcoming Scottish Brass Band Championships in Perth on 10 March.
