Fountain City returns to Perth

Thursday 9 November 2017

2009 Scottish Open champion Fountain City Brass will make a welcome return to Scottish soil later this month as part of its 2017 tour of the UK.

The American guests will take part in a concert on Friday 24 November at St. Leonard’s Church in Perth before joining 16 other combatants at the Scottish Open the following day at Perth Concert Hall.

The much-anticipated Scottish Open Gala Concert will also feature tuba soloist Les Neish in what promises to be a spectacular night of music-making ahead of the 15th annual Scottish Open contest. Entry to the concert, which commences at 7.30pm, will cost £5.00 which can be paid at the door on the night.

The Fountain City Brass Band, founded in 2002, is a thirty piece brass and percussion ensemble that is based in Kansas City and draws its membership from across the United States.

Since its first competition in 2004, the Fountain City Brass Band has won several U.S. Open Brass Band Championships and North American Brass Band Championships. In November of 2009, the Fountain City Brass Band famously became the first American band ever, and the first non-UK band in over fifty years, to win a major brass band competition on UK soil at the Scottish Open Brass Band Championships.
