History

Bon-Accord Silver Band was founded in 1962 under the baton of Stewart Watson, MBE. The band has since gone from strength to strength and in 1980 it formed its training band, the Bon-Accord Silver ‘B’ Band.

The band has performed at the Royal Albert Hall on two occasions in its history and in 2010, represented Scotland at the European Brass Band Championships in Linz, Austria.

In recent years, Bon-Accord has acquired its own band hall, providing an excellent base for producing impressive contest results.

In 2016, Bon-Accord Silver Band retained the crown of the Northern Counties Open Contest Champions for the third year running. It comes after a successful 2015 when the band was placed second in the Fife Charities Band Association Contest, gained third place in the Scottish Brass Band Championships (championship section) and achieved fourth place in the Scottish Open Contest. To finish the year Bon-Accord was awarded third place in the SBBA Band of the Year.

Bon-Accord is delighted to be returning to the West Lothian Festival of Brass for the first time since 2010.
