Euan Meikle has stepped down.

THE Coalburn Bronze Band is searching for a new Musical Director following the announcement that Euan Meikle is to step down at the end of 2015.

It comes after the band enjoyed success at the Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships in November, gaining a silver award in the novice section.

Commenting on the decision, Euan said: "It has been a privilege to work with these talented individuals, and it was not an easy decision to make after the progression the band has made in my time as MD."

A spokeswoman for Coalburn Bronze Band said: "Euan and the band have had a very successful and fun couple of years and we will be sorry to see him go and wish him every success for the future.

"We are keen to find a replacement as soon as possible and now invite applications for the position of MD.''

The band rehearses at the Silver Band Hall in Coalburn on Wednesday evenings and has 25 children and young people attending regularly.

Coalburn Bronze Band performs in various competitions, concerts and other engagements throughout the year and has a full diary of events for 2016.

Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence and should be made by contacting the band secretary, Debbie Court. The closing date for applications is January 15, 2016.
