Granite City Brass on look-out for new MD
Granite City Brass is seeking a dedicated and experienced musical director or resident conductor to lead and develop the band following the stepping down of Bruce Wallace after 11 years in charge.
Bruce’s final appearance with the band will be tomorrow at the Scottish Championships.
The successful candidate will be responsible for training the band, conducting rehearsals, and fostering the growth of both the senior contesting band and the community band. The role offers the opportunity to shape the future of the band and its members.
Commitment to regular attendance at Sunday and Wednesday rehearsals throughout the year is essential, as is a passion for community engagement and music education, with a vision for developing pathways for learning brass instruments.
The successful candidate should have proven experience in conducting brass bands, with a strong understanding of brass band repertoire and techniques, as well as an ability to adequately prepare a 1st Section band for contest performances or collaborate with professional conductors for competition preparation.
Interested candidates are invited to get in touch with the band secretary at secretary@granitecitybrass.co.uk. All enquiries will be treated with the strictest confidence.
The Aberdeen-based band, established in 1850, has a rich musical heritage spanning over 170 years and participates in several contests throughout the calendar year across Scotland.
