Results: Borders Entertainment Contest 2015

Langholm

THE St Ronan's Silver Band from Innerleithen emerged as winners of the 15th Borders Entertainment Contest in Langholm. It meant the second section band lifted the Scottish Borders trophy, the second section trophy and the award for the highest placed Borders band under the baton of Chris Bradley.

Broxburn and Livingston Band won the coveted entertainment prize while hosts, Langholm Town Band won the new deportment prize.

Seventeen bands from across Scotland and the north of England took part in a full day of music-making. The adjudicators were Richard Evans and Charlie Farren. Adjudication was open and there was a voice-over adjudication (Charlie Farren), recorded by Nigel Durno, as well as the traditional written remarks (Richard Evans).

Christine Calvert, contest secretary, said: "We hope that everyone enjoyed their visit to Langholm.

"We certainly enjoyed hosting the contest and meeting more new brass band friends. The day was a huge success and I would like to thank all the bands for their kind comments, messages and emails Langholm have received, they are very much appreciated."

This was the second time that the event has been held in Langholm and returned this year to mark the Langholm Town Band's bicentenary. Next year the contest is due to be held in Galashiels for the first time.
