Scottish Open 2015: errata

COMPETING bands at the Scottish Open have been alerted to an errata on the set test piece.
The comments were issued by Howard Snell, composer of Gallery, ahead of its Scottish premiere at the contest in Perth Concert Hall, Perth, on November 28.
Errata
There are only three errata that have come to light so far:
1. III - Bar 3, ‘Solo', missing instruction for Solo Cnt 1 & 2 part
2. III - Bars 16 &18, Baritones ‘dims' not ‘crescs'.
3. VI - Bar 113, Solo Horn first note A, not G.
Alternative suggestion
VI - Bar 70, alternative slide position for trombone 2, (3---6)
The comments below were sent to a conductor in response to questions:
The timpani is intended to be with wooden sticks for the whole of Cut-Outs, and can remain as such to the end of Landscapes or change back for Landscapes bar 48, the first convenient moment. I like to leave these points for the conductor to decide... which I realise is not helpful when some adjudicators might fuss about them (very unlikely here).
Regarding the ensemble in Landscapes bars 17 and 19 (in fact 17 into 21) - the ensemble between the descending trombones and then timps and the chords on the first beat of each bar is essential due to the harmony at those points. The time values of the downwards ‘line' (troms and timp) are obviously not even, but the passage is relatively free for the conductor to manage - as the "rall" and the "molto" suggest/allow. There does need however to be a sense of the varying time values as the line goes downwards into bar 21.
Any further comments that I send out in reply to questions I will forward to Peter Fraser for onwards transmission to all bands. My email for questions is: daphnis2012@gmail.com
