Entries open for Radio 2 Young Brass Award

YOUNG brass players in Scotland have been invited to write their names into the record books by becoming the next recipient of the BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award.
Entries are now open for the contest, which has previously helped to launch the careers of Scottish brass playing stars like Katrina Marzella, Ross Knight and Josiah Walters.
After receiving all the entries, a maximum of eight successful musicians will be invited to record up to 10 minutes of music of their own choice with the Brighouse and Rastrick Band at the BBC Studios in Salford. The judges will then select four players to go through to the Grand Final.
The winner gets their own session on Listen to the Band and a broadcast performance with an established group.
More information, including the opportunity to download an application form, is available by logging on to the BBC website. The closing date for entries is Friday, December 4, 2015.
