New signings for Co-operative Funeralcare

Co-operative Funeralcare Band

THE Co-operative Funeralcare Band has announced a trio of signings ahead of its performance at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

Alison Bonnar has re-joined the band on second euphonium after time away due to work commitments. Meanwhile, Lindsay Roxburgh has joined on repiano cornet, with Alex Ramsay moving on to the solo cornet bench. After starting in Dalmellington Junior Band under the tutelage of Hugh Johnstone MBE, Lindsay worked her way up to become principal cornet of the senior band.

Joining Co-operative Funeralcare on soprano cornet is Gordon Kyle after a successful spell with Kirkintilloch Kelvin Band which saw him pick up several best soloist and instrumental prizes.

A spokesman for Co-operative Funeralcare Band said: "Alison Bonnar had been a member of the band for many years and earned a fantastic reputation as a top class player and bandsperson. We are delighted she has returned to add her quality and experience to the section.

"The band is delighted to welcome Lindsay and Gordon to strengthen the cornet team. It would also like to place on record its thanks to Caroline Tennant, who has decided to take a break from banding following the recent British Open Championships. The band has benefitted greatly from Caroline's many years of fine performances and outstanding service."
