Bands wanted for Camelon Mariners' Day

Camelon Mariners' Day

BANDS have been invited to take part in the 2016 Camelon Mariners' Day.

The event made a return to the Forth Valley village in June 2015 and bands are being sought to march in next year's event on June 11.

Mariners' Day is an annual event traditionally held on the second Saturday of June which features a series of festivities and events in the village of Camelon. Originally started in 1949, it ran for several years, stopping in 1957 until it was resurrected in 1981. With the growing economic issues, Mariners' Day fell away in 2006 until recently when a new committee was formed to bring back the day for the local community.

The event is funded by the goodwill of the people and businesses throughout Camelon, Falkirk, and the wider area by means of donations or sponsorship.

Anyone looking for more information should contact James Hardy, treasurer, Mariners' Day Gala Association, 3 Blair Place, Falkirk, FK2 7GX, call 07730 007210 or get in touch via email.
