Lowland Band looking for recruits

Lowland Band

BRASS and percussion players in Scotland have been invited to take part in prestigious engagements while earning money by joining the army reserves.

The Lowland Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland is on the lookout for experienced musicians to join the ensemble, which rehearses in Edinburgh. Members are paid for rehearsals and gigs, and travel expenses are reimbursed. Anyone who completes the required number of rehearsals and engagements, annual military training and annual musical training deployment will receive a tax free bounty (bonus).

Elizabeth Whitty, of the Lowland Band, said: "Life in an army reserve band is exciting and varied.

"You will have the opportunity to visit many locations throughout the world playing varying styles of music and get paid for it.

"The band has an annual camp during the summer months and in the past has been to Germany, Canada, and London. While away we perform at tattoos, royal events, dinner functions (as part of smaller quintets and groups) and in public concerts. You can also keep fit, meet people and make new friends."

Candidates must be aged between 18 and 43 and a UK or a Commonwealth citizen who has been resident in the UK for five years with indefinite leave to remain in the UK.

Anyone looking for more information, or to arrange to sit in on a rehearsal, should email Martyn James or call: 0131 310 3824.
