THE Coalburn Band organisation has announced that three of its young musicians have made a successful transition from its children's band through to its flagship senior outfit.

Cornet player Emily Barclay, 16, Eb bass player Euan Court, 12, and percussionist Jenny Alexander, 17, are all products of the band's youth policy, which provides opportunities for aspiring young brass and percussion players to progress from the bronze band to the intermediate group and through to the silver band.

The three young musicians have all performed in recent concerts with the silver band and will perform with the ensemble at the Scottish Championships next month.

Alan Court, Coalburn Band president, commented: "'We are absolutely thrilled with the progress of all our children and young people and these three outstanding musicians are an example to all that hard work and dedication pay off.

"We wish to congratulate them all and thank their parents who support them through their musical education.''

Emily, Euan and Jenny are pictured at the recent awards night ceremony.
