Creetown Silver Band honour its\' conductor Stuart McNab

Creetown Silver Band and its' conductor Stuart McNab have reached a landmark point in their long history, it is 30 years since Stuart became the bands conductor and musical director and the band members marked this special occasion by presenting Stuart with a presentation baton and an engraved decanter.
Following the resignation of the then conductor Alex McDowall, Stuart, who had recently arrived in Newton Stewart to take up a teaching post at the Douglas Ewart High School was asked if would be interested in the position of Bandmaster, Stuart agreed and in May 1983 he took up his new post.

Stuart has worked tirelessly for the band and community and has nurtured and educated many youngsters and adults alike in the art of brass band playing, as with all bands Creetown has gone through some lows but also some highs and no matter what the situation with the band Stuart has always been there to see us through, whether it was just 6 in the practice room or 26 his encouragement and enthusiasm was always evident. Stuarts loyalty and dedication to Creetown Silver Band and to brass banding in general is unsurpassed and we look forward to many more years with him at the helm.
