Report & RESULTS - West Lothian Festival 9th June

The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA), in conjunction with the West Lothian Council were proud to present the 2013 West Lothian Festival of Brass at Livingston's Howden Park Centre on Sunday 9th June, and wish to congratulate all the participating bands for their exciting collection of performances.

This spectacular show-case of Scotland's top six bands provided the audience with a world-class selection of entertainment, including the use of the theatre's magnificent screen and sound-system to add multi-media effects to many of the performance items.

SBBA wishes to thank West Lothian Council for their on-going support of this event, the presentation of which enables Scotland's premier brass bands to demonstrate to the wider audience how much there is to enjoy through the diversity and imagination of this wonderful genre which forms such an important part of Scotland's past, present and future musical heritage.

The Association would also like to thank the staff of the Howden Park Centre for their assistance throughout the day. In particular, the technical team who provided such superb stage support to the bands, meeting the many audio-visual and lighting requirements specific to each performance which utilised the fantastic multi-media facilities now available in the theatre.

This year has brought some of the most impressive, imaginative and exciting sets of performances to this event, and SBBA are delighted by the way in which the bands have embraced the event's mission statement to offer ‘...the most current and progressive form of the genre and designed to appeal to both the general listener and brass band enthusiast.

SBBA commented: "We offer our congratulations to all the performers who have come together to create a truly memorable 2013 West Lothian Festival of Brass. Anyone with even the slightest curiosity about brass band music should look to attend next year's event - it's a perfect way to discover the variety on offer and has now become one of Scotland's key brass band show-case events."
