5th Anniversary of Levern Valley Community Brass & Free Workshop from Dr.Nicholas Childs

Levern Valley Community Brass is a youth brass band based in East Renfrewshire. The band was formed in August 2007 as a partnership between East Renfrewshire Music Service and Barrhead Burgh Band. The aim of the band is to provide facilities for young people in the area to encourage an enjoyment of playing brass instruments and to maintain the brass band genre in East Renfrewshire.
Levern Valley Community Brass (Brian Deans) is presenting its Annual Concert in Arthurlie Parish Church, Barrhead on Saturday 10 November. The concert starts at 7pm and the Co-operative Funeralcare Band, conducted by Dr Nicholas Childs, are the special guests for the evening.
In addition to being the current Scottish champion band the Co-operative Funeralcare Band has had a successful contesting year coming 7th at the National Championships and 6th at both the Open Championships and at the European Championships in Rotterdam.
Members of the Co-operative band and Dr Childs will be taking part in a workshop with Levern Valley Community Brass on the Saturday afternoon. The workshop is open to all bands and tutors and anyone with an interest in music. It is also being held in the church from 3.30 - 5.00.
Dr Childs is well known for his work with the National Children's Band of Great Britain and his involvement with the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band in association with Black Dyke. It is not very often that he is able to take part in this kind of workshop north of the border and this is a tremendous opportunity for a Scottish audience to see and hear him work with a youth band.
The workshop is free and concert tickets are priced at £8 (Adult) and £5 (Concession). Contact Levern Valley Community Brass on 07596 134331 for further details of the workshop and concert.
