Land O Burns - Brass In Concert 25th August
Contest in Troon Concert Hall
Newsletter - Update No 2 ( dated 1st August 2012 ) ..... to all bands entered in the 2012 contest:-
1 ..... 16 bands are still entered in the competition this year.
2 ..... Conductors - could all bands please email the name of your conductor to me as soon as possible ( for the programme ).
3 ..... Wrist-bands - this year we will introduce wrist-bands for players and for our paying audience.
Players' wrist-bands will be a different colour from the audience wrist-bands and everyone must have a wrist-band
to get into the concert hall to listen to the bands.
In addition, players must be wearing a players' wrist-band to get on to the stage, this will be checked at the
registration desk!
Also, each band will receive 30 wrist-bands ( for:- 28 players, conductor and representative ) ..... should any
band intend to play four percussionists, please let me know as soon as possible and an additional wrist band will
be issued.
Wrist-bands will be issued to band representatives at the draws, but, should ‘2nd half bands' have players who
would like to listen to ‘1st half bands' they will need to make arrangements for a band member to collect all of
their wrist-bands, to avoid having to pay for an ‘audience wrist-band' to get into to the concert hall. The person
who collects the wrist-bands for your band will be responsible for issuing the wrist-bands to your players and no
further wrist-bands can be issued to your bands.
4 ..... 50 Years Medals - We will be delighted to welcome ‘50 Years Medal Holders' from all bands and we will also be delighted to uphold the traditional FREE ENTRY for such medal holders, so, please encourage your medal holders to come with your bands and show their medals at the entry desk to receive a wrist-band to enter the concert hall.
5 ..... Programmes reminder - please remember that your concert programme cannot be longer than 20 minutes
playing time ( plus one minute allowed for tempo fluctuations ) ..... time penalties will be enforced as per the
details issued in the initial invitation letter ( The Music Section ), please make sure that your conductor is aware of
the timing conditions!
In addition - each band must feature a ‘Stand-Up Soloist' ..... any band which does not feature a ‘Stand-Up
Soloist' will be disqualified ( the soloist must play a brass or percussion instrument from within the band ).
