BESSON support for SBBA
The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) has secured an unprecedented level of sponsorship from the French instrument manufacturing giant Besson (Buffet Group). This is the first time that Besson (Buffet Group) has entered into such a high level, long term commitment to any organisation reflecting the importance of SBBA's ground breaking development programme. Following negotiations between Tim Barrett, National Sales Manager for Besson and the newly appointed Commercial Development Manager for SBBA, John Hamilton, a three year, substantial support package has been agreed.
John Hamilton, Commercial Development Manager for SBBA commented: "This agreement will be a cornerstone in SBBA's strategy to bring on board corporate sponsors that not only supply the financial resources to carry out their continued revitalisation of brass bands in Scotland, but can be truly described as a developmental partner in furthering the world leading youth development programme in which SBBA is currently engaged. To have a secure funding stream for the next three years and be able to call on the resources and expertise which Tim and the Buffet Group, through Besson, bring to the table is the realisation of a dream scenario. I am hugely indebted to Tim for recognising the genuine symbiosis which exists between our two organisations and I look forward to working closely with him over the coming years."
George Burt, President of SBBA continued: "This support from a major international manufacturer in the music industry is indeed confirmation that our long term development strategy, initiated 6 years ago and ably implemented since then, is delivering a renaissance in brass playing. It gives us added weight in our aim to have brass bands recognised in the arts establishment as a key sector, and we are immensely grateful to Besson for giving us this opportunity ".
Tim Barrett, National Sales Manager for The Buffet Group responded: "Support of music education has always been and remains an integral part of our philosophy at Buffet-Group. The value and benefits of music in the development of the lifeskills of all of us are well known, and we are delighted that at a time of financial pressure we can support SBBA's activities through our Besson brand . SBBA has been pioneering a world leading programme of youth music development over the last 6 years and we are hugely excited about becoming their developmental partners to assist in taking this forward".
