The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) is delighted to announce that a 12 month sponsorship agreement has been reached this week with Band Supplies Ltd. This most generous donation is the next logical step in the supportive relationship that Band Supplies have had with SBBA for nearly 35 years.

John Hamilton, Commercial Development Manager for SBBA commented: "This agreement is another step forward in SBBA's plan to develop a network of corporate sponsors who will support SBBA annually on an ongoing basis, thereby furnishing the organisation with additional funds to continue developing and enhancing the brass band movement in Scotland.

Band Supplies Ltd have been a valued friend to, and supporter of SBBA for many, many years and I feel that this agreement is confirmation that we, as a representative organisation, are focussing on improvements and projects that matter to the wider brass band community. To have a company of the standing of Band Supplies Ltd endorse our work is genuinely gratifying and we are very grateful to Ronnie Tennant for his continued support and generosity.

Ronnie Tennant, Managing Director of Band Supplies Ltd responded: "I am celebrating 50 years in brass banding this year and have been a supporter of SBBA for very many of those years. I am also very aware that I have been fortunate enough to earn a good living from a pastime that I love. When John approached me to discuss enhancing my current support of SBBA I realised that this would be an ideal opportunity to give something extra back to the movement that is very dear to me. The recent strides that they have taken in re-invigorating the brass band movement in Scotland, and particularly in youth bands, are absolutely in line with my hopes for the future of banding. I feel strongly that I want to assist as much as I possibly can and with this agreement I can do that and also celebrate my 50 years in a meaningful way."

This sponsorship agreement now builds upon the long-standing relationship between Band Supplies and SBBA and is representative of the company's foresight to recognise the positive contributions SBBA are making in the youth and community areas of development for brass bands in Scotland. With an astounding increase of 61 youth bands in just the last 6 years, introducing approximately 2,000 children to the enjoyment and benefits of brass band music, it is clear to see that the support from Band Supplies will continue to enhance and protect future similar growth.

George Burt, President of SBBA commented: "This generous sponsorship will further strengthen SBBA's development of brass bands in Scotland. It demonstrates the highly productive symbiotic relationships we have fostered between all sectors involved in brass music, to the mutual benefit of all and especially the growing number of young people who participate in this lifelong creative activity."
