Plans are now in place for the annual residential courses of NYBBS, including involvement from The National Youth Choirs of Scotland (NYCOS), a guest performance by NYBBS at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival and direction under visiting guest conductor, Bramwell Tovey. The busy schedule then culminates with a collection of celebration concerts to show-case the developments of the individual bands throughout the week. The concerts will be performed in the beautiful setting of St Andrews University, offering an eclectic mix of musical styles, presented by over 160 young brass players, across three bands, and promising to be a rare treat of an event for everyone attending.
All performances will take place on Saturday, 4th August at The Younger Hall, St Andrew's University, with The Children's Band of NYBBS launching the event with their concert at 2.30pm. This will be followed by a concert performance by The Reserve Band of NYBBS later that afternoon, whilst NYBBS present their concert at 7.30pm the same evening.
Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA commented: "This year's course is full of new and exciting opportunities for all the attendees. As always, there will be a lot of hard work taking place during the week, but this will be well balanced by a lot of fun and numerous opportunities for personal musical development. The concerts from all three bands are also set to offer something special - the course repertoire lists (from which the final programmes are selected) not only provide the players with a superb variety of challenges, but also include a wonderful choice of titles that will delight the audiences."
Everyone is welcome to attend the complete collection or individual concerts, and all are indeed encouraged to support the present and future of Scotland's talented brass and percussion musicians.
