Shotts St Patricks Brass recently held their annual Ceilidh and this year, for the first time, featured band awards.
Local businesses agreed to sponsor the 'Bandsperson of the year and 'Player of the Year' trophies for which the band would like to extend their thanks.
The Station Hotel 'Bandsperson Of The Year' trophy as voted by the band members, was awarded to Tommy Nayles. Tommy is the band's principal Bb bass and also the band Vice President & librarian.

The Lennons Showbar 'Player Of The Year' trophy was awarded to the band's principal cornet Lynsey Mcilwraith, who is also the band secretary.

The Mae Warner award for 'Young Player of the year' was awarded to Jordan Stevenson from the Shotts St Patricks junior band.

The night was also attended by Tom Allan representing SBBA. Tom presented SBBA lifetime medals for 50 years service to six members of Shotts St Patricks Brass. That's over 300 years service to brass banding! The recipients of this award were Joe Hughes, Neilly Ward, William Duffy, Eric Kerr, Pat Hawthorn and the band's conductor Mike Marzella.

To all of our award winners we give a massive congratulations but for our SBBA medal recipients we give special thanks for their dedication to Shotts and the brass band world over the past 50 years!
