Tartan Brass ready for Whit Friday Marches 1st June
As the Whit Friday season is almost upon us again, Tartan Brass members are busy putting the finishing touches to their preparations for the 2012 marches. The march is chosen, the kilts have been pressed and the brasso is out...
Last year we really appreciated the warm welcome from the public, other bands and especially the post-Greenfield-performance dram with Boarshurst Band Club!
Our bus leaves Tartan Brass HQ in Campbeltown on the Thursday, travelling 400 miles to get to the Whits! Players are picked up across Scotland* en route to arrive in time for a prompt start in Denshaw [*a few special 'south of the border' members meet us at the Friday hotel]. The friendly welcome and bandter from all Whit Friday enthusiasts always helps to make our trip even more fulfilling.
This year, we have 46 musicians from a massive contingent of 15 British brass bands - from the northernmost Granite City to the southernmost of Kidlington Concert Brass! We're looking forward to being part of Whit Friday again for the 7th consecutive year, and openly invite everyone for a wee Skirlish!
Goodluck to all brass bands and see you on the circuit - sláinte !
