I have written the following for Brass- Band:-
(1) Study. (1990. Duration - 7 minutes).
(2) Three Places in Southern Scotland. (1996. Total duration - 7 minutes).
It is my wish to have these played through and recorded (for private, non-commercial use) and am looking for a band/ensemble in Scotland which would be able to do this. The music is very demanding and requires most, if not all, instrumentalists to be at least Grade 8 standard. This is mentioned because of past experiences which, it must be stated, had a very negative impact on all concerned.
I am aware that with so much time spent in contesting, brass-bands are reluctant to take on contemporary music from an unfamiliar composer (and I do fall into that category). On the other hand, there are some excellent youth bands which might relish a challenge. Any help and advice would be most welcome.
Yours Sincerely,
RICHARD M. STANBROOK.
