Barrhead Runners Complete 10K
Four girls from Barrhead Burgh Band did their bit to help the band towards Harrogate. The girls competed in the recent Glasgow 10K run and were part of a record field of 5,500. The race route started at Scotstoun Sports Stadium and finished in Victoria Park.
Running for the first time and pictured are Rachel MacDonald, Sarah Crangle (cornets), Carole Ann Alford (supporter) with Eileen Anderson (flugel), who has participated in the race for the past 5 years. Times achieved were Eileen - 55m42s, Rachel 1h10m, Sarah & Carole Ann - 1h18m55s.
The run has generated over ?1200 in sponsorship towards Barrhead Burgh Band funds to support the band in representing Scotland at the National Brass Band Championships in Harrogate in September, and a substantial step towards the ?6000 fundraising target. Fundraising efforts continue throughout the Band before the competition in September.
