Coalburn Silvers Newest Supporter

The Scottish Championships at Motherwell Concert Hall on Saturday 11th March proved to be a historic and special day for Coalburn Silver Band in more ways than one.

Coalburn Silver Band competing in the 3rd section at the Scottish Brass band Championships for the first time at this higher level, narrowly missed out on further promotion being placed 3rd from the 12 competing bands, the result was a triumph for the band who were only promoted last year. Congratulations to both runners up Broxburn Silver Band and winners Tullis Russell Mills - good luck at the National Finals at Harrogate in September.

To add to the tension at the contest, Band President Alan Court's wife who was sitting in the audience, went into labour during the band's performance!!, following a quick dash to Wishaw General Hospital, Lewis Alan Court arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning. Lewis who weighed in at 5lbs and 5oz is pictured with the trophy.

The good news didn't stop there with the band's Euphonium player Jimmy Buchanan proposing to his girlfriend Catriona Tough, a proposal that was duly accepted and all at the band wish them every happiness in their future life together. All in all another rather eventful day for South Lanarkshire's only remaining brass band.
