West Lothian Challenge Final Lineup
It's Newtongrange against Unison Kinneil in the final of the West Lothian Challenge contest. After two fantastic semi-finals the winning bands meet in the final on Sunday 26th June in the Howden Park Centre, Livingston.
In the first semi-final held on June 5th the Newtongrange Silver band conducted by Alan Ramsay finished ahead of Broxburn & Livingston (Mark Bell) and Bo'ness & Carriden (David McLeod). It was a return to form for the Scottish Champion band after their Blackpool disappointment. Alan Ramsay is looking for his first win in this contest and who would bet against him come the final.
In the second semi-final held on June 12th the Unsion Kinneil band under the baton of Andrew Duncan took the final spot ahead of the Dalmellington band (Archie Hutchison) and Fife Champions Kingdom Brass (Alan Duguid). The band are clearly enjoying having Andrew Duncan at the helm with this result following hard on the heels of their impressive performance in Blackpool, where they finished as the highest placed Scottish band. Andrew Duncan himself is going for a hat-trick of sorts having successfully steered the Whitburn Band to two of their three victories in this contest.
The programmes the bands played in their respective semi-finals are given below. The final takes place on Sunday 26th June at 6:30pm in the Howden Park Centre, Livingston. Tickets are going fast so if you want to be there you are advised to call the box office on 01506 433634 to check availability.
