Kingdom Brass take inaugural Clans vs Counties title

Congratulations to Kingdom Brass on bringing back the top silverware from the inaugural Clans vs Counties contest in the Queen’s Hall Arts Centre in the historic town of Hexham today.

Conducted by Eoin Tonner, the band secured 195 points, two points ahead of runner-up Cockerton Prize Silver Band, directed by Duncan Wilson.

Completing the podium line-up was Jedforest Instrumental Band (Philip Rosier) on 189 points with what was judged to be the most entertaining programme (below).

Making the final decision on the choice and execution of the ten bands’ own-choice programmes was adjudicator John Doyle.

The contest was the brainchild of Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale.

For Caroline Tennant, the contest was extra memorable as she was presented with her life membership of the Scottish Brass Band Association for her lengthy service to brass banding, by SBBA secretary Tom Allan (below).
