New director for Band Supplies
Musical instrument retailer Band Supplies Ltd has welcomed the addition of Rob Hanson as a director of the family business.
Rob, managing director of John Packer Musical Instruments, joins Band Supplies with immediate effect in addition to his current role, and will bring decades of experience in music retail, offering expertise in sales and marketing strategies.
He will join the existing team at Band Supplies, spearheaded by managing director Ronnie Tennant, alongside wife Ann and daughter Stephanie, with the family-run business having been serving customers with pride since 1978.
Welcoming Rob to the company, Band Supplies’ managing director Ronnie Tennant said: “We have long enjoyed a relationship with John Packer Musical Instruments, stocking their extremely popular brass and woodwind instruments, and we are delighted to be developing this connection further by welcoming Rob Hanson as a director.
“On a personal note, I have known Rob for decades and look forward to working alongside him in what is a new and exciting chapter in Band Supplies’ history. Rob brings a vast amount of experience in music retail and musical instrument development, and we will greatly value his background in sales and marketing as we look forward to an exciting new era.”

Band Supplies Ltd is one of the leading musical instrument and accessory suppliers in the UK. Earlier this year, Ronnie’s brother Raymond retired from the business after more than 40 years as its education specialist, though he continues in an advisory role.
Rob Hanson commented: “I’m honoured to be joining Band Supplies Ltd as a director of this highly-respected family business.
“Band Supplies has long been the one-stop-shop for customers searching for their ideal musical instrument, from experienced professionals to those taking the first steps in their musical journey.
“I look forward to working alongside the Tennant family to help guide the company into the new era, in this fast-paced and ever-evolving retail landscape.”
John Packer Musical Instruments has won the King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category on two occasions; firstly in 2018 (then known as the Queen’s Award) and more recently, in May 2025, recognising the outstanding international growth of the flourishing business.
