Aberdeen Remembers with Bon-Accord Band

This is a week when bands perform at Remembrance concerts and lone cornetists stand by cenotaphs to play the Last Post in acts of remembrance for our fallen service personnel in past wars.

On Sunday the Bon-Accord Silver Band played in an ‘Aberdeen Remembers’ concert in the city’s Music Hall to raise money for the Gordon Highlanders Museum and the performance, arts and heritage centre, St Margaret’s Braemar.

During the event – featuring visual images, song and bagpipes – the band performed music from 1940 showing the history of the Gordon Highlanders and events in Aberdeen from then until now.

For the concert, the band was conducted by Gavin Johnson for the first time, having joined from the cooperation band after recently relocating to Aberdeen. Gavin plays Eb Bass with Bon-Accord Silver Band and has been working with Jennifer Cook in leading a newly established youth band.
