Best wishes to Whitburn and the Co in National Finals

The hopes and best wishes of the Scottish banding community are with the cooperation band and Whitburn as they travel south to take part in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain on Saturday.

The two bands will be among 19 top-tier competitors taking to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London, vying for the 2025 championship title. Performances of this year’s set test piece Symphony in Two Movements by Edward Gregson will be adjudicated by Dr Stephen Cobb, Ian Bousfield and Rob Wiffin OBE.

Ahead of the journey south, the cooperation band will be holding an open rehearsal with principal conductor Katrina Marzella Wheeler on Wednesday evening at the Govan & Linthouse Parish Church, starting at 7.30pm. Entry is free of charge.

Whitburn Band and conductor Chris Shanks is having an open rehearsal of the test piece the following evening (Thursday 9 October) at West Calder High School in Limefield Lane, West Calder, starting at 7.15pm. The event is free and all are welcome.
